The Florida Hospital Neuroscience Institute
is the only facility in Central Florida offering an Interventional Neuroradiology
(INR) Program for treatment of cerebrovascular disorders, such as aneurysms,
arteriovenous malformations, and stroke
treatment.
INR involves minimally invasive approaches to the treatment of a wide variety of diseases of the brain, head and neck, and spine. Many of these diseases are vascular diseases including acute stroke, aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), cavernous carotid fistulas, atherosclerotic stenosis and vasospasm. With minimal invasion the procedure offers many benefits to patients, including reduced risk, pain, and recovery time.
A relatively new treatment method, INR involves the use of progressive imaging techniques to place catheters through arteries or veins to treat vascular disorders. INR can also be used to reduce blood loss from surgery for certain brain and spinal tumors and potentially reduce the neurological damage from stroke. INR also uses the minimally invasive technique of vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty to treat some compression fractures associated with osteoporosis.
